About

“Greetings you mighty warrior!”

This phrase is from a scripture in the Bible about a man named Gideon, who thought of himself as the “least in his family and his family the least amongst the nation”. My husband says this to me often to remind me who I am because it illuminates the contradiction that goes on inside my head; the struggle of inner insignificance.

So, why in the world would I ever want to write a blog? Well, the fact of the matter is, there are dozens of reasons why I would talk myself out of it, but there are even MORE reasons why I should.

Let me explain.

First, before I go any further, my name is Mistie and I’m so happy you’re here!  I was adopted when I was just two weeks old and have always struggled with feeling that I don’t quite fit-anywhere. I am a wife, a mother of three, I have a special needs child, I am a “natural” caretaker and have been for over twenty years, I have experienced divorce, single motherhood (twice), blended family ups and downs, loss of parents and I have walked through a season of being widowed, and yet; I have so much more life to LIVE!

I live fifty miles north of Seattle with my amazing husband and sweet daughter. We are a blended family and together we have five kids, two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, and four beautiful grand babies, which we love to spoil. I cherish my family and soak in every moment I spend with them. I am a self proclaimed coffee junkie! I never begin my day without my morning cup of Joe, or two! Getting outside is our most favorite thing to do as a family! You will most likely find us out on a bike ride or hiking and on rare occasions, out on our street bike whom we have affectionately named “Maggie Mags”.  She’s a beauty I might add. I enjoy reading, watching a good, edge of your seat kind of movie, and finding new recipes to try. I love LOVE and hate injustice.

I have experienced quite a bit in my 50-something years on this planet and what a shame to keep it all to myself. I want to share stories that I hope offer you encouragement, inspiration and motivation to live this life-your life-to the fullest.

Now, I will challenge you in the same way my husband challenges me, so,  welcome you mighty warrior! Are you ready? Let’s stand in Undefeated Faith!
